Note:
  1. For private patients, charges are inclusive of 9% GST. Charges may differ for Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents, Resident Foreigners and Non-Residents.
  2. Charges for subsidised patients are based on a range of government subsidy and may vary depending on the patient's means test subsidy level. For subsidised patients, GST is absorbed by the hospital.

Classification of Patient Status

Non-subsidised/Private Patient

Patients will receive treatment as private patients if they are:

  • Referred to NUH by any government doctor or restructured hospital doctor to a specific doctor (regardless of seniority)
  • Referred to NUH by a private doctor or private hospital, with or without reference to a specific doctor
  • Discharged from NUH class A or B1 wards
  • NUH private patients referred for follow-up treatment at outpatient facilities within NUH, with or without reference to a specific doctor

Subsidised Patient (Applicable to Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents only)

Patient referred to NUH by any restructured hospital doctor and patients who are referred from the following government agencies will receive treatment as subsidised patients:

  • Polyclinics
  • A&E of Restructured Hospitals
  • Subsidised outpatients of Restructured Hospitals
  • Voluntary welfare organisations under the purview of MOH
  • GPs under the Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS)

Subsidised patients discharged from NUH class B2 and C wards for follow-up treatment at outpatient facilities within NUH will continue to benefit from subsided rates.

Inpatient Charges

Before admission, you will receive financial counselling at the Specialist Clinic/Centre, Emergency Medicine Department or Patient Service Centre. Upon admission, you will be advised on your estimated cost of hospitalisation that will be incurred during your stay in the hospital.

NUH Inpatient Charges

Note:
  1. Patients are not eligible for admission to subsidised wards and can only be admitted to Deluxe Suite, A1 or B1 Class wards if they are:
    • Non-residents
    • Admitted for non-basic healthcare services
    • Transferred from private hospitals
    • Transferred from private wards from other restructured hospitals
    • Referred to a specific doctor for consultation or treatment
    • Being consulted or treated by their choice of doctor
  2. Patients can only be admitted to Deluxe Suite or A1 Class wards if they are:
    • Obstetrics patients who are 'R' pass holders or any other work pass holders married to Singapore citizens/Permanent Residents, without approval of the Ministry of Manpower.
    • Referred from private clinics of visiting consultants.
  3. Patients who are Residents and not warded for the reasons stated in Clause 1, are eligible for admission to private or subsidised wards.
  4. Charges quoted for private class wards are inclusive of 9% GST.
  5. Actual charges may differ for Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents, Resident Foreigners and Non-Residents. Please confirm with the counter staff prior to admission.
  6. Charges shown for B2 and C Class wards are based on the assumption that the patient receives maximum government subsidy (GST is absorbed by the hospital).
  7. Charges above are only bed charges and DO NOT include other hospital charges e.g. daily treatment fee (DTF), procedures, medication, laboratory tests, x-rays, etc.
  8. *Residents staying in the B1 Class ward will receive government subsidy – this includes ward charges, DTF, as well as charges for medication, laboratory tests, x-rays, procedures etc.

Rooming In
Relatives of single-bedded rooms in Kent Ridge Wing (except isolation rooms or otherwise advised against by care team) can choose to room-in with the patient if they wish to with no additional charges.

Telephone Charges
Local calls are free of charge. Patients who need to make overseas calls are to approach the ward staff for assistance. Operator-assisted overseas calls are not claimable from Medisave nor covered by the Civil Service Concession (CSC) card.

Deposit
Upon admission, a deposit based on the entire estimated bill size is required. Deposit can be made by cash, credit cards or NETS only. Additional deposits may be required if your stay is extended due to unforeseen circumstances. Partial or complete waiver of the deposit is accepted if a Letter of Guarantee from the employer or insurance company, Hospitalisation Identity Card (HIC), Medisave, Civil Service Concession (CSC) card or any other benefit card is presented upon admission.
