Pneumoconiosis

2024/04/17
What is Pneumoconiosis

People working in certain occupations may suffer lung damage due to many years of exposure to various types of dust. Examples are sandblasting which causes silicosis (due to the inhalation of silica), and cement piping and shipbuilding, which can cause asbestosis (due to inhalation of asbestos fibres). Chest x-rays show typical patterns of damage.

Treatment and drugs

Treatment is supportive with symptomatic relief.
