Hands-off Observership

Foreign doctors can apply to a National University Hospital (NUH) to observe in a clinical department with no hands-on.

  • Strictly for observation only; No involvement in direct patient care.
  • Not allowed to make entries in patients' case notes or write prescriptions for patients.
  • A maximum of 28 days or 4 weeks.
  • No stipend, financial commitment and accommodation from NUH. Accepted applicants are to arrange for their own VISA.
  • A processing fee of S$170 (GST included)* is applicable per attachment (to be paid online upon acceptance).
  • Miscellaneous fee may be applicable for certain departments.

* Fee adjustment w.e.f. 1 Jan 2025

Eligibility Criteria
Upon acceptance, you will be required to submit the following:

1. A recognised medical degree

2. Registration as a medical practitioner in the country where you are currently practising

3. Documentary proof of vaccination date records / serology report for the followings (as per Ministry of Health directive - self declaration of past illness or vaccination NOT accepted as evidence of immunity):

  
  • Varicella
  • Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR)
  • Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (Tdap)
  • COVID (Full records)
  • Chest X-ray
