Dr Benjamin Tan underwent his undergraduate medical training at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine National University of Singapore (NUS), where he graduated in 2013 on the Dean's List. For his achievements in medical school, he was awarded the prestigious Lee Hsien Loong Award for Outstanding All-Round Achievement by the Ministry of Education, Singapore.
Dr Tan then underwent his postgraduate residency training in the National University Health System. He previously served as Chief Resident of the University Medicine Cluster at NUHS. He attained his Master of Clinical Investigation degree from the NUS, supported by a Ministry of Health Healthcare Research Scholarship. He subsequently obtained specialist accreditation in Neurology in 2021.
Dr Tan has been active in clinical research and medical education. He is currently the Phase II Clinical Skills Foundation Program Medicine Lead at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He is also the Neurology Specialty Editor of the Singapore Medical Journal. Dr Tan's research interests lie in investigating heart-brain interactions, young stroke etiologies, and outcome prediction in patients with acute stroke.
