Dr George Thomas is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the National University Hospital (NUH), and also serves at the Eye Surgery Centre at Alexandra Hospital.
He graduated from the University of Melbourne in Australia, where he was awarded the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists’ Prize in Clinical Ophthalmology. He also attained the RL Simpson Prize Award and Hector MacLean Scholarship in Ophthalmology.
Dr Thomas completed his Ophthalmology specialist training at the NUH, where he received a Gold Medal in the Joint Committee for Specialist Training Examination. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (London) and a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine of Singapore.
Having served as the Chief Resident at the Department from 2016 to 2017, Dr Thomas graduated from the Residency Leadership Development Programme 2016 to 2017. He currently holds a position in the National University of Singapore’s Clinical Faculty Scheme, involving in medical student education.
Dr Thomas is interested in medical and surgical retinal diseases and complicated cataract surgery. He is involved in academic research, and has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and presented his work at local and international conferences.
