Dr Lau Wen Liang Joel, graduated from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 2014 and joined the National University Health System General Surgery Residency Program. He obtained his Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2015, and the Master of Medicine (Surgery) from the National University of Singapore in 2018. Upon completion of his Residency Training in 2021, he obtained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and was accredited as a Specialist in General Surgery by the Specialist Accreditation Board, Ministry of Health Singapore. In 2022, Dr Lau joined the Department of General Surgery at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital in 2022 as an Endocrine Surgeon. He has a keen interest in thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal surgery. He also performs minimally invasive procedures with interests in endoscopy, hernia and gallbladder surgery. In addition, he contributes to the Acute Care Surgery roster.
Apart from clinical work, Dr Lau is also involved in Undergraduate Medical Education at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (National University of Singapore) as a Clinical Tutor and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (National Technological University) as an Adjunct Faculty. He has been awarded multiple teaching award including the Junior Doctor Teaching award for AY 18/19 & 20/21, the NUS Medicnie Appreciation for Clinical Educator in AY 19/20 and the NUS Medicine Fortitude Award in AY 20.
Dr Lau has also more than 15 research publications in peer-reviewed journals and in book chapters. He has presented at numerous local and overseas conferences.
