Dr Lim studied medicine at the National University of Singapore and he was on the Dean’s List every year, graduating as the top of his cohort. He was awarded the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medal, recognising the best graduate throughout the course of study. He trained at the Singapore National Eye Centre, and was the top-ranked candidate in vitreo-retinal diseases, paediatric ophthalmology, and oculoplastic and adnexal diseases, for the final Academy of Medicine of Singapore Ophthalmology exit examinations.
He subsequently qualified as a Fellow for both the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Academy of Medicine of Singapore. He then pursued advanced training at Harvard Medical School and worked with leaders in the field at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. He received further sub-specialty training in paediatric retinal conditions, and valuable exposure to ‘bionic eye’ procedures and technology. He is one of the first in the region to have knowledge and experience in this exciting new field.
Prior to joining National University Hospital, Dr Lim served as a Senior Consultant in the Surgical Retina Department at the Singapore National Eye Centre as well as a Visiting Senior Consultant Retina Surgeon at Changi General Hospital. He was also a Visiting Senior Consultant at FV Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
