Dr Leong Siaw May graduated from the National University of Singapore, completed her Specialist Training in Anaesthesiology and received specialist accreditation from the Singapore Medical Council in 2013.
Subsequently, she completed subspecialty fellowship with the University Health Network in Toronto, Canada in Perioperative Medicine which included significant training in ambulatory anaesthesia, airway management and regional anaesthesia with acute pain management. She has conducted regional anaesthesia workshops in the departmental as well as national level with the Singapore Society of Anaesthesiologists.
An advocate for enhanced recovery after surgery, Dr Leong leads the development of anaesthesia guidelines for the department for patients who are on the ERAS pathway. She is also involved in the Masters examination process in Anaesthesiology in Singapore in addition to teaching medical undergraduates and postgraduate trainees in anaesthesia. She is a Physician Faculty in the NUHS Anaesthesiology Residency Programme.
Dr Leong has keen interests in medical humanitarian work and has participated actively in various outreach trips to developing nations.
