Biosketch

Adjunct Associate Professor Lim graduated with his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from the Melbourne Medical School, University of Melbourne in 2001. He obtained his initial working experience as a medical officer with Queensland Health in Australia. He returned to Singapore to commence his surgical training in 2005.

Adj A/Prof Lim was conferred the Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh in 2007 followed by the NUS Master of Medicine degree in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2008. He completed his advanced specialist training and obtained his admission as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2011.

Adj A/Prof Lim served in the Singapore Orthopaedic Association, Annual Scientific Meeting Committees in 2009 and 2011. He was the Singapore Orthopaedic Association Ambassador to the Hong Kong Orthopaedic Association Annual Congress in 2011.

In 2012, Adj A/Prof Lim embarked on a one-year Academic Manpower Development Award fellowship program at the Royal Liverpool Children's Hospital in the United Kingdom. He acquired invaluable experience in paediatric orthopaedic surgery including limb reconstruction and hip preservation surgery.

Adj A/Prof is the Undergraduate Medical Education Director for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the National University Hospital. He is also Core Faculty of the National University Health System Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program for postgraduate training.

In addition to his busy clinical practice at the National University Hospital, Adj A/Prof Lim provides an outreach service to the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore for children with special needs.

Adj A/Prof Lim has been invited as an international speaker at overseas conferences including the Korean Orthopaedic Association Annual Congress 2017, the inaugural ASEAN Paediatric Orthopaedics Society meeting at the Malaysian Orthopaedic Association Annual Congress 2018 and the 2nd Mid-Year Meeting of the Paediatric Orthopaedic Society of India 2023. He was in the organising committee of the Singapore Orthopaedic Association 45th Annual Scientific Meeting 2023 and chair of the open hip preservation cadaver workshop. He represented Singapore as an invited speaker at the Asia Pacific Paediatric Orthopaedic Society, Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association Congress 2024.

His interests and expertise are in lower limb reconstruction, deformity correction and limb lengthening. He is a leader in hip preservation surgery especially the treatment of adolescent and young adult hip dysplasia.

Adj A/Prof's proficiency also includes adolescent sports injuries especially patella stabilisation surgery. He has a deep passion in treating children with neuromuscular conditions such as cerebral palsy, using instrumented gait analysis and single event multi-level surgery, to optimise the functional ability in these children.
