Dr Loh May-Han obtained her MBBS and Master of Medicine in Anaesthesiology from the National University of Singapore (NUS). Under the Academic Medicine Development Award, she completed her subspecialty fellowship in Obstetric Anaesthesia at King Edward Memorial Hospital for Women, Western Australia.
She was a member of the task force comprising members of Singapore Society of Anaesthesiologists (SSA) and Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society of Singapore (OGSS) that published local guidelines for expectant mothers. She has lectured and moderated on topics related to Obstetric Anaesthesia, most recently at the Singapore Anaesthesia Refresher Course.
Dr Loh is actively involved in medical education at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine NUS. She has consistently received excellent teaching feedback from her students, and received the Dedication to Teaching Award in 2013-2014, the Undergraduate Most Effective Teacher Award in 2015-2016, and the Undergraduate Teacher of the Year Award 2014-2015, 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 from the Department of Anaesthesia, NUS. In recognition of her outstanding contributions, Dr Loh was presented with the NUS Medicine Teaching Excellence Award 2018/2019, the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence in 2018/2019 and 2019/2020, the NUS Medicine Fortitude Award 2020 and the NUHS Teaching Excellence Award 2020.
Serving in Medical Affairs Clinical Governance, she is the driver in promoting patient safety and quality improvement in Alexandra Hospital, a cluster member of National University Health System. She is currently the Associate Chairman Medical Board MA(CG) in Alexandra Hospital.
Dr Loh is an active member in Singapore’s anaesthesia community. She won the Singapore Society of Anaesthesiologists (SSA) inaugural CARES award, which was presented to the most all-rounded specialist trainee nationally, in recognition of her excellence in clinical, administrative, research and education, as well as her contributions to the anaesthesia community. She had served as Treasurer of the SSA, played a pivotal role in organising the Anaesthesia Day Public Forum and was Chairman of the Organising Committee for the regional biennial anaesthesia education event - Singapore Anaesthesia Refresher Course 2018 which incorporated the KK Hospital Obstetric Anaesthesia Symposium.
