Adj Asst Prof Lu Jirong graduated from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 2009 and obtained membership with the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh in 2013. He was awarded the MOH Healthcare Research Scholarship in 2015 to pursue the Master of Clinical Investigation (MCI) at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS. At the same time, he completed his Urology Residency training at National University Hospital and received specialist accreditation in Urology in 2019. He has been a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore since then.
Under the NUH Learning Development Award (2022), he completed a Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Fellowship at Western University in Ontario, Canada. He is a diplomate of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in the AFC program for Solid Organ Transplantation.
Dr Lu manages a variety of urology conditions, including oncology and benign diseases, with a special interest in kidney transplantation and minimally-invasive surgery. He actively participates in undergraduate education with both Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. He is also a Core Faculty for the NUHS Urology Residency program. His research interests include surgical simulation training and translational research, having held grants in these areas. He has also participated in multiple overseas humanitarian trips providing medical and surgical care to the less privileged in the region.
Dr Lu believes in the importance of the physician-patient partnership in the pathway to recovery and wellness — by empowering patients and at the same time delivering patient-centric expertise and care.
