After a period of Basic Surgical Training in the United Kingdom and Australia he obtained the Fellowship of The Royal College of Surgeons, London. However, in the later part of this period of his career he developed an interest in Interventional Radiology thus embarked on the 5 year Radiology Training Scheme in the West Midlands, UK. His Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists, London was obtained during this period and there was a one year dedicated Fellowship in Interventional Radiology. He also developed a sub-specialist interest in Hepatobiliary Imaging and Intervention during the later period of this training and thus a 3 month sabbatical period was spent in the University of California, San Diegoto learning enhanced methods of Liver MRI.

From February 2004 to September 2014 he was a Consultant Hepatobiliary/Interventional Radiologist at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Birmingham, UK (QEHB) working with the Liver Unit. The Liver Unit at QEHB is one of the largest in the world hence a diverse and in-depth knowledge of all hepatopancreaticobiliary (HPB) problems was obtained. Since August 2008 he also held an honorary contract with Birmingham Children’s Hospital which was predominantly to perform complex HPB interventions and advise on complex HPB imaging.

From August 2010 to August 2014, he was the head of Radiology in the position of Clinical Service Lead for Radiology at QEHB.

In October 2014, he moved to National University Hospital Singapore, and has been invited to lead and develop the HPB Radiology services. He was the Head of Interventional Radiology at NUH from November 2016 to July 2019, and also serves under Alexandra Hospital's Diagnostic Imaging Services.

His main clinical interests and expertise lie in HPB intervention and imaging. He has particular expertise in the minimally invasive treatment of liver tumours using Radiofrequency Ablation, Microwave Ablation, Trans-areterial chemoembolistion and Selective Internal Radiotherapy (SIRT – Y90). He also has extensive experience of post-transplant liver intervention and of biliary procedures. Specific experience in treatment of Budd-Chiari syndrome has also been developed over the course of his career.
