Adj. A/Prof Nicola Ngiam is currently a senior consultant in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, Division of Paediatric Critical Care, Department of Paediatrics, Khoo Teck Puat-National University Children's Medical Institute, National University Hospital.
She graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1996. She received postgraduate paediatric training at the National University Hospital, Singapore General Hospital and KK Women and Children's Hospital.
She subsequently attained higher academic qualifications in the Master of Medicine in Paediatrics from the National University of Singapore and membership to the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in 2000.
She received postgraduate training in the field of Paediatric Critical Care at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada from 2006 to 2007.
She has been practising in the field of paediatric critical care since 2000 and her research interests include ventilator-induced lung injury, nutrition in critical illness and sepsis. She is also actively involved in education programs for medical undergraduates and paediatric postgraduate students as well as nurses in the field of paediatric critical care. She has a special interest in the use of simulation-based teaching methods.
