Biosketch

A/Prof Chandran is currently a senior consultant Dermatologist and the Head of the Division of
Dermatology at the National University Hospital. She completed her Basic Specialist Training in
Internal Medicine. She went on to Advanced Specialist Training in Dermatology at the National Skin
Centre which culminated in her being awarded the Best Candidate in the Dermatology Exit
Examination by the Chapter of Dermatologists, College of Physicians, Singapore.

A/Prof Chandran was awarded a scholarship by the Ministry of Health to pursue fellowships in
paediatric dermatology at the Erasmus MC-Sophia Children's Hospital, University Medical Centre,
Rotterdam and in immunodermatology at the Centre for Blistering Diseases, University Medical
Centre, Groningen. These have honed her subspecialty interests which include paediatric
dermatology, autoimmune and genetic blistering skin diseases (such as epidermolysis bullosa),
collagen vascular diseases involving the skin and medical dermatology including all manner of
chronic inflammatory skin conditions. She sees patients with general dermatological problems and
runs sub-speciality clinics in immunobullous diseases, paediatric dermatology and chronic
inflammatory skin diseases with a special interest in atopic dermatitis and hidradenitis suppurativa.
She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks.

A/Prof Chandran is passionate about educating the next generation of healthcare providers and is
actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education. She is a member of the
Dermatology Residents Advisory Committee and was previously Associate Programme Director of
the Post-Graduate Year 1 Residency for the Department of Medicine, NUH. She now serves as the
Associate Chairman Medical Board (Education) as well as the Education Director in NUH.

Further on the administrative front, she overseas the harmonization of clinical policies across NUHS
as Cluster Lead for clinical policies, NUHS.
