Dr Cheung completed his rheumatology training in Australia before pursuing an extended period of clinical research training in Cochin Hospital, Paris, under the guidance of Professors Maxime Dougados and Laure Gossec. Subsequently, he completed a PhD under the supervision of Professor Lyn March at the University of Sydney.
He is the current clinical lead in rheumatology ultrasonography and co-runs the weekly inflammatory arthritis multidisciplinary clinic. He is actively involved in postgraduate and undergraduate training in rheumatology and is part of the rheumatology senior residency core faculty and the current Director of Research in the Division of Rheumatology.
Dr Cheung is a steering committee member of the Singapore Targeted Ultrasound Initiative Interest group, member of the international OMERACT special interest group in patient involvement in research, as well as the past scientific chair of the Singapore Society of Rheumatology workshop.
Currently, his main research focus is on the clinical outcome measures of inflammatory arthritis and actively supervises students and residents on several ongoing research initiatives.
