Biosketch

Dr Rahul Rathakrishnan is a Senior Consultant with the Division of Neurology at the National University Hospital, and Assistant Professor at the National University of Singapore. He obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Southampton and completed his postgraduate medical education in the United Kingdom. In 2007, Dr Rathakrishnan attained specialist accreditation in neurology from the Ministry of Health, Singapore. Subsequently, he was presented the Overseas Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) award to undertake an epilepsy fellowship at the Montreal Neurological Institute, Canada.

His clinical interests lie in the early diagnosis and management of patients with epilepsy and related disorders. This includes the early evaluation of patients with new onset seizures and an early flexible review of patients with epilepsy.

He is actively involved in postgraduate neurology training and is currently the Program Director for the neurology senior residency program at NUHS. He has participated in several local and regional teaching courses pertaining to epilepsy and related disorders.

Dr Rathakrishnan has research interests relating to the advanced application of EEG techniques in neurological disease and in the critical care management of patients with seizure disorders. He is currently involved in exploring the advanced use of EEG in patients with cerebrovascular disease.
