Dr Soo Shuenn Chiang graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2004, and obtained his Masters of Medicine (Psychiatry) in 2010 and became qualified as a specialist in Psychiatry in 2014. He has been trained in Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), a form of psychodynamic therapy as well.
Previously, he has worked in various psychiatric departments and has experience in inpatient consultation liaison work.
His interests are in General Adult Psychiatry and has special interest in Community Psychiatry and Psychotherapy
Dr Soo also leads a community psychiatric team, ASCAT (Assessment & Shared Care Team) which is a multidisciplinary team consisting of case managers, psychologists and care coordinators. They work closely together with community partners and family doctors, and acts as a bridge to bring psychiatric care to the community.
Dr Soo’s interest and involvement in Community Psychiatry was recognised as he was chosen to receive the Academic Medicine Developmental Award in Community Psychiatry by St Vincent Hospital (Melbourne) in 2017.
Apart from his clinical interests, he is also active in the educational field. He is involved in supervision of postgraduate psychiatric trainees, advanced practitioner nurses and undergraduate medical students. He was promoted to Clinical Assistant Professor from 1 July 2023.
