Adj A/Prof Vidyadhar Mali is a Senior Consultant in the Department of Paediatric Surgery and the Surgical Director of the Paediatric Transplantation Programmes, National University Centre for Organ Transplantation at National University Hospital. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Singapore.
Adj A/Prof Mali completed his General Surgery and Paediatric Surgery training, obtaining qualifications from The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (2003, 2006), the Academy of Medicine in Singapore (2003, 2008), and the University of Mumbai in India (1995, 1998).
His special clinical interests include neonatal surgery, paediatric hepatobiliary surgery and paediatric liver and kidney transplantation.
Since he took the helm in 2021, the NUCOT Paediatric Liver Transplant Programme was acknowledged by the prestigious International Liver Transplant Society (ILTS) as the paediatric transplant program in Singapore. During his leadership, the program surpassed benchmarks, and achieved a 97% success rate. He is recognised as a key opinion leader in paediatric transplantation, demonstrated by his contributions to ILTS consensus guidelines, multi-centre collaborative studies, invited committee membership in the Study Group of International Living Donor Liver Transplantation and invited distinguished lectures organised by regional and international paediatric surgical and transplant societies.
Adj A/Prof Mali has effectively hosted and chaired International Symposia at NUH, garnering excellent participation and feedback both regionally and globally. His presentations at international conferences and his proctorship of regional surgeons in their home countries have earned him several awards.
In recognition of his contributions and achievements, he was awarded the Master Clinician Award in 2024 by NUH. In addition, A/Prof Mali was also awarded the Health Manpower Development Programme by MOH in 2003, the Talent Retention Award by NUHS in 2013, as well as the Academic Medicine Development Award (NUHS) and Travel Grant International Living Donor Liver Transplantation Study Group, 2nd Congress in Seoul, South Korea in 2015.
