Dr Chong graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2014. He completed his National Service as a medical officer in the Singapore Armed Forces Psychiatry Care Centre, and subsequently joined the National Healthcare Group (NHG) Psychiatry Residency Programme, where he gained experience through rotations in various institutions including the National University Hospital, Institute of Mental Health and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. Dr Chong was conferred the Membership in the Royal College of Psychiatrists from the United Kingdom in 2021 and obtained his specialist accreditation in 2024.
Dr Chong’s interests include geriatric psychiatry as well as community psychiatry. He is also passionate in education, and is involved in teaching both undergraduate students and postgraduate psychiatry residents. Dr Chong is currently appointed as a Clinical Core Faculty Member for the NHG Psychiatry Residency Programme, continuing to pay it forward in guiding future psychiatry specialists.
Apart from his clinical interests, Dr Chong enjoys hiking as well as a smooth cup of flat white in his free time.
