Dr Julian Lim graduated from University College London (UCL) Medical School in 2017 with distinctions in medical science, clinical science and clinical practice. He developed an interest in Rheumatology in medical school, having done his rheumatology rotation at the Royal Free Hospital London, a tertiary Scleroderma referral centre. He completed an intercalated Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree (2014) and was awarded the UCL Dean's Research Prize (undergraduate category) for his research into T-helper-17 cells in ANCA-associated Vasculitis. He returned to Singapore upon graduation in 2017 and undertook junior residency training in Internal Medicine and subsequently senior residency training in Rheumatology with the National University Health System (NUHS). He was accredited as a specialist in Rheumatology and was appointed Associate Consultant with the Division of Rheumatology, National University Hospital Singapore in March 2024. He is currently involved in setting up the Nailfold Capillaroscopy (NFC) service at NUH and has a developing interest in Connective Tissue Disease related Interstitial Lung Disease (CTD-ILD).
He is passionate about Rheumatology and Internal Medicine education particularly at the undergraduate level. He has been involved in multiple educational endeavours at the National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, including restructuring the rheumatology posting for third year medical students. He will also take on the role of Undergraduate Director for Rheumatology in July 2024.
