Dr Tan Chin Lik is currently an Associate Consultant in the Division of Neurosurgery at National University Hospital and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Cambridge, UK in 2012. He then pursued his specialist training in neurosurgery under the National University Health System. He successfully passed the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) exam and completed the Residency programme in 2023. His clinical practice covers general neurosurgical conditions, with special interests in skull base surgery, neurovascular surgery and spine surgery.

Dr Tan believes that patient care can be greatly enhanced through active, rigorous research. He did an intercalated BA (Hons) degree in Neuroscience during his medical training, and subsequently completed a PhD in the field of nerve regeneration in 2011. He has published in peer-review journals and presented at multiple international conferences. His research focuses on improving axon regeneration and patient outcome in central nervous system injuries, in particular haemorrhagic stroke, traumatic brain and spine injuries.

Dr Tan is also involved in teaching undergraduate medical students at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and supporting postgraduate training for neurosurgery residents.
