Facelift

A facelift is a surgical procedure to restore a smoother and better defined contour to your face and neck. It removes and redrapes excess skin, anchoring the fascial ligaments to a higher and more youthful position.

A facelift will be able to improve jowls, sagging of the cheeks and loose wrinkled skin. It can give a better defined jawline, and smoother skin texture. The incisions are usually hidden around the contour in front of the ears extending round the earlobes behind the ears and into the hair line.

You will require general anaesthesia for this procedure. Usually, your plastic surgeon would recommend a one day stay in hospital. You will be given a support garment for the face after the procedure. 

If you are on medications like aspirin which can predispose you to increased bleeding, you should stop taking these medications for a period of time before your surgery. If you are a smoker, you are also advised to stop smoking at least two weeks prior to surgery.

​Potential complications associated with face lift surgery include haematoma (blood clot collecting under skin), skin necrosis, infection, scarring, and injury to nerves of the face. However, these complications are uncommon.
