Guidance for individuals with diabetes observing Ramadan:
Fasting during Ramadan is a fundamental practice for healthy Muslims. However, exemptions are made for individuals with serious medical conditions, including diabetes.
There are three main risk categories to consider:
Category 1 Very High Risk | One or more of the following:

Category 2 High Risk | One or more of the following:
|
Category 3 Moderate/Low Risk | Well-controlled Type 2 diabetes treated with one or more of the following:

Check blood glucose levels at least two days every week during Ramadan (or more frequently as advised by your healthcare team) at the following times:
Break your fast if blood glucose levels are below 4 mmol/L or above 16 mmol/L.

5) When to stop fasting
Immediately stop fasting if blood glucose levels are:
Drink plenty of water.
Check blood glucose levels every four hours.
Seek medical attention if levels are persistently above 16 mmol/L.
Cease fasting and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms of hypoglycaemia, hyperglycaemia, dehydration or feeling unwell.

Jika anda di dalam kategori risiko TINGGI atau SANGAT TINGGI, anda TIDAK DIGALAKKAN UNTUK BERPUASA kerana anda berisiko tinggi untuk mengalami komplikasi seperti;
Tetapi, jika anda masih berniat untuk berpuasa, anda harus memberitahu doktor atau jururawat anda supaya ubat Diabetis diubah suai dan mendapat nasihat tentang cara-cara untuk mengawal darah gula semasa berpuasa.
