Diabetes Singapore 

Diabetes Singapore is dedicated to raising awareness and offering education and support for individuals living with diabetes. The society facilitates a Diabetes Support Group and organises public forums. Learn more about membership opportunities here.

Based in Singapore, typeOne.sg serves as a support group for individuals with Type 1 diabetes, as well as caregivers and family members of those with Type 1 Diabetes. This platform allows you to learn more about others’ experiences and also share your own. For further information, click here.

Chronic Disease Self-Management Programme (CDSMP)  

 

Diabetes, as a chronic condition, requires effective self-management.  

The Chronic Disease Self-Management Programme (CDSMP) offers interactive online aimed at empowering individuals to actively manage their diabetes. These sessions foster mutual support and enhance confidence in handling health challenges, promoting active and fulfilling lives.  

Who is the programme for?   

The programme welcomes anyone managing one or more chronic conditions, such as diabetes, obesity, hypertension, asthma, chronic obstructive lung diseases, arthritis, stroke, and more. Caregivers are also encouraged to participate alongside their loved ones.  

Programme details 

  • Duration: Six weekly sessions, each lasting two hours 
  • Mode: In-person sessions. Participants are encouraged to register with a family member or carer for technical support during the programme. 
  • Content: The programme covers coping with frustration, fatigue, pain and isolation; appropriate exercises for maintaining and improving strength, flexibility and endurance; medication management; effective communication with family, friends and healthcare providers; nutrition; informed decision-making; goal setting and problem solving.
