Digestive and liver disorders affect individuals of all ages. Some conditions are acute and life-threatening, while others, though chronic, can be debilitating.
Our nursing service recognises the imperative to provide care for this group of patients through a multi-disciplinary team effort. This approach is facilitated under a one-stop centre comprising the University Digestive Centre, Digestive Centre, Endoscopy Centre, and the Gastroenterology and Hepatology inpatient ward.
Inflammatory Bowel Disease Clinic
Our dedicated Inflammatory Bowel Disease clinic is led by the Advanced Practice Nurse (APN), Gastroenterologist, Pharmacist and Dietitian, offering specialised care to patients diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease. Our services include consultations, disease and treatment monitoring, and patient education.
In the event of an acute flare-up of the condition, patients can easily contact the APN via our hotline for a same-day walk-in clinic, allowing early treatment to prevent hospital admissions.
Nurse-led Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) Care
Led by our trained PEG nurse, this service sees the collaboration with gastroenterologists to provide care for patients with PEGs. This includes insertion to post-insertion care, long-term care, and educating patients to prevent complications for both the patient and their family. Our skilled PEG nurses provide holistic care to patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Specialised Nursing Care in Endoscopy Centre
Our endoscopy nurses work alongside endoscopists to provide specialised care for patients undergoing endoscopy procedures. This includes pre-procedural counselling, specialised care and monitoring during and after the procedure to ensure patient safety.
Overall, the Gastroenterology and Hepatology nursing team provides patients and their family members with safe and seamless care through education and empowerment.
