Outpatient Procedure Centre (OPC)

The Outpatient Procedure Centre (OPC) comprises several clinics: Outpatient Parenteral Antibiotic Therapy (OPAT), Outpatient Parenteral Infusion Clinic (OPIC), Travel Clinic and Allergy Clinic.

OPAT & OPIC provides specialised and therapeutic services for adults, aged 18 and above which caters to both private and subsidised patients. Patient care is performed with background in supervised clinical training and research. The clinic is supported by a team consisting of Clinicians, Assistant Nurse Clinicians, Registered Nurses and Service Associates. OPIC & OPAT are important pillars to support NUHS right-siting initiatives for our patients. This is done through the setup of a safe and efficient outpatient environment for the convenience of patients, cutting down on the number of days spent in inpatient ward and allowing patients to return to their homes the next day.

OPAT and OPIC offer specialised therapeutic services for adults 18 years and older, serving both private and subsidised patients. The patient care provided is backed by supervised clinical training and research expertise. The clinic operates with a team of Clinicians, Assistant Nurse Clinicians, Registered Nurses and Service Associates.

Both OPIC and OPAT play a crucial role in supporting NUHS's right-siting initiatives—the provision of appropriate medical care wherever cost is the lowest possible—for our patients. This is achieved by establishing a safe and efficient outpatient environment, aiming to reduce the number of days patients spend in inpatient wards and facilitating their return home the following day.

OPAT Clinic

The OPAT clinic administers intravenous (IV) antibiotics to medically stable patients in the outpatient setting. Patients can either visit the clinic daily for treatment or opt for support and training to self-administer the medication through the home care administration programme. OPAT also caters to Dengue Outpatient Management (DOM) and Traveller's Health and Vaccination Services at the Travel Clinic.

DOM was established to manage dengue outbreaks in Singapore. The Emergency Medicine Department (EMD) and inpatient wards at NUH, as well as Alexandra Hospital's Urgent Care Centre, refer medically stable cases with confirmed dengue to OPAT for management. Patients undergo assessment by an Infectious Diseases doctor and nurses on their initial visit. Blood results are reviewed until patients are ready for discharge.

Outpatient Parenteral Infusion Clinic (OPIC)

The OPIC team provides outpatient parenteral infusion therapy for various conditions, including autoimmune diseases, inflammatory bowel diseases and ageing-associated autoimmune neuropathy conditions like osteoporosis. The clinic administers immunoglobulin and blood transfusion to patients with chronic anaemia without active blood loss and are stable for treatment in an outpatient medical setting.

Travel Clinic

The Travel Clinic provides pre-travel health advice, including vaccinations and malaria chemoprophylaxis. Patients receive consultations from an Infectious Diseases Specialist before vaccinations.
