Psychiatric Nursing
Psychiatric nursing provides holistic care to individuals affected by mental health or behavioural issues to promote their physical and psychosocial well-being. The practice focuses on using interpersonal relationships and considering environmental factors to aid mental health recovery. Our nurses create a safe space for patients, fostering therapeutic relationships through social interaction and communication.
Their responsibilities range from aiding in daily activities to crisis management, administering medications and addressing any side effects. They assess patients' progress and provide guidance and support. They also participate in therapeutic activities, offering educational support to patients and families about mental health issues and lifestyle choices.
Working alongside medical social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists, our psychiatric nurses help develop and implement individualised care plans. Postgraduate-trained nurses can perform diagnostic assessments and therapeutic functions, including individual psychotherapy and the creation of management plans.
