Community Eye Clinics

The NUH Community Eye Clinics (CEC) was launched in August 2018 to enhance patients' access to eye care services. Managed by Optometrists and coordinators from the NUH Eye Surgery Centre, CECs aim to diagnose, treat and manage patients with stable and non-complex eye issues to minimise the need for frequent hospital appointments. All individuals diagnosed with critical eye conditions at CECs can be referred to the hospitals for further treatment. CECs patients who are referred over by NUH Eye Surgery Centre can be referred back to NUH if their condition worsens or require specialised treatment.

We also empower patients to care for their eyes and prevent eye diseases through education and community eye screenings.

Referrals for CEC patients are given strictly by the following:

  • Polyclinics and selected primary care partners
  • The Singapore Diabetic Retinopathy Programme (SiDRP)
  • Eye departments in hospitals
  • Community functional screening programme
