HSA Losartan Recall

2024/05/15

28 March 2019 - The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) has recalled three brands of high blood pressure medicine which contain losartan - Losartas, Losagen and Hyperten.

Seven other brands of losartan medicine approved in Singapore are not affected by the recall.

The brand that NUH carries is Losartas (refer to images below).

There is no immediate health risk associated with taking the affected brands of medicine.

You are strongly advised to continue taking your medicine until you are informed by the hospital to stop or switch to suitable alternatives.

If your clinic appointment is before 1 July 2019, please keep to it. Your doctors will advise you further, including switching to suitable alternative medicines if appropriate, at the consultation.

If your clinic appointment is scheduled on or after 1 July 2019, we will contact you within the next two weeks (by 11 April 2019) with further updates.

Due to the drug recall and to ensure the continued availability of high blood pressure medication for all patients who need them, you will be given the medication on a one-month basis. This ensures that patients in all settings are able to promptly receive the medication needed.

To facilitate the subsequent collection of your medication, you may use our NUH myMeds mobile app or our online order form.
