Outpatient Services:
General Medical Dermatology
We manage a spectrum of medical dermatological cases, ranging from common to rare, for patients of all age groups.
Procedural/Surgical Dermatology
Our clinicians evaluate and manage a full range of skin lumps, bumps and discolorations such as epidermal cysts, lipomas, neurofibromas, warts, skin tags, keloids, moles, seborrhoeic keratoses, skin cancers, epidermal naevi, vitiligo, melasma, naevus of Ota, café au lait macules, tattoos, drug-induced pigmentation, among others.
We perform surgical procedures including skin biopsies, electrosurgery, cryosurgery, intralesional steroid injections, carbon dioxide laser surgery and treatment of hyperhidrosis (sweaty palms, soles, armpits) with botulinum toxin injections. Vascular lesions including vascular malformations or tumours may be treated with a vascular laser. Chemical peels and laser-assisted pigment removal may be performed for appropriate conditions.
Mohs micrographic surgery is a service which affords precise care for the management of various types of skin cancers.
Our objectives include early detection of cancerous changes in moles, reducing cancer morbidity and mortality, as well as providing education and sun protection strategies. This programme is particularly beneficial for individuals with more than 10 moles, family history of malignant melanoma, history of primary skin cancer or organ transplants.
Paediatric Dermatology
We manage a wide range of skin conditions in paediatric patients, with particular expertise in congenital genetic blistering diseases, hair and nail diseases and vascular malformations or tumours.
Immunodermatology
Our specialists holistically manage challenging autoimmune blistering and collagen vascular diseases ,such as bullous pemphigoid, pemphigus vulgaris or foliaceus, cutaneous lupus erythematosus, vasculitis of the skin and dermatomyositis, often with multidisciplinary input.

A) Post-graduate Education
The Division of Dermatology is actively involved in the Internal Medicine Residency Program, facilitating rotations for trainees. We are also an accredited site for Advanced Specialty Training (AST) in Dermatology. Trainees undergo at least 12 months of their 3.5-year training at NUH, culminating in exit examinations and certification from the Specialist Accreditation Board of the Singapore Medical Council.
B) Undergraduate Education
with the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, the Division of Dermatology is actively involved in undergraduate medical training. We facilitate rotations for local medical students at various stages of their studies and offer elective postings for both local and international students seeking in-depth exposure to Dermatology. The division organises research projects for undergraduates, assigning a dermatologist as their supervisor for assessment throughout the attachment. Learning occurs through clinic attachments, inpatient ward rounds and procedure sessions, with residents and trainees under the guidance of a consultant who also facilitates case discussions. We welcome clinical observers and clinical fellows for attachments. For more information, please contact Dr Nisha Suyien Chandran via Miss Nor Hudah at [email protected].
The Division of Dermatology is dedicated to conducting high-quality, clinically relevant research that advances dermatological knowledge and impacts clinical services. Our commitment to research helps establish NUH as a distinguished centre for skin diseases. Several studies are currently underway.
