The Division of Musculoskeletal Oncology specialises in bone and soft tissue tumours in both adults and children. Comprising three full-time musculoskeletal oncologists, the division boast a collective experience exceeding 50 years of experience and a publication record of over 100 works, contributing significantly to discoveries in musculoskeletal oncology. Our oncologists also serve dual roles as joint replacement and microsurgical surgeons, enabling them to offer a broad spectrum of skills, ranging from prosthetic interventions to bone transplants. Their diverse expertise ensures that the division is well-prepared to meet the needs of this highly demanding field in Southeast Asia.
Figures (a) and (b): A case of osteosarcoma of the proximal femur (arrowed). With our multi-disciplinary set-up, we successfully performed a resection of the proximal femur and pelvis. Additionally, we cryopreserved and re-implanted the patient's own pelvis, replacing the lost femoral segment with megaprosthesis.
Figures (c) and (d): In the case of other tumours, we use CT fluoroscopy to target probes and freeze them in situ, avoiding the need for extensive open procedures.
