The Undiagnosed Case Service team is dedicated to assisting patients with unexplained medical conditions in finding a diagnosis.
Achieving a diagnosis can provide patients and their families with closure, a better understanding of the condition and potentially guide towards more specific treatment, if available.
This service is supported by all paediatricians in the Department of Paediatrics at NUH. The specific team that consults with the patient is determined by the patient's symptoms. The composition of this team for each consultation is coordinated by experienced doctors.

The workflow for the clinic is as follows:
Outpatient
Outpatient appointments involve an assessment by a doctor with expertise in rare, particularly genetic, disorders. Additional consultations with other members of the multidisciplinary medical team may be arranged as necessary.
Information about the consultation cost will be provided. Subsequent investigations, such as genetic testing, whole exome sequencing, or whole genome sequencing, may be recommended following the doctor's assessment. The costs for these investigations are not included in the initial consultation fee.
Inpatient
Inpatient consultations are arranged for patients who require extensive evaluations from multiple specialists. An estimated cost for the admission, covering doctors' fees and investigations (including genetic testing, whole exome sequencing, whole genome sequencing, etc.), will be communicated.
